The rumor mill in Montgomery is swirling of news of a potential resignation by Republican Attorney General Troy King, amid rumors that he was caught by his wife having sex with a male aide and subsequently banished from his home by his wife. King, a potential GOP frontrunner for Governor in 2010, succeeded Bill Pryor, one of George W. Bush’s most controversial judicial nominees. In addition, King was also an early endorser of John McCain.
The Locust Fork Journal:
A spokesperson for Alabama Governor Bob Riley denied that Attorney General Troy King is preparing to resign in the wake of a massive rumor campaign that has yet to be fully confirmed. The word is, according to multiple sources in Montgomery and elsewhere, that King was recently caught by his wife in a gay affair with a male aide and banished from his home.
According to Tara Hutchison in the executive office of the governor they have heard of no plans in the works for King’s resignation. She said she had not heard that he had been kicked out of his home because of a gay affair.
Governor Bob Riley’s press office refused to return multiple phone calls from this independent press outlet even though some sources accuse Riley of perpetrating the leak. The attorney general’s press office also declined to return phone calls seeking comment.
The Locust Fork News and Journal heard about this a couple of weeks ago from a Montgomery lawyer, and have had numerous contacts with people trying to confirm the truth of the rumor.
Left In Alabama:
I just heard from a very reliable source that Troy Boy is resigning as Attorney General. No report of King’s official reason, but the unofficial reason almost certainly involves the rumors swirling around Montgomery that he was recently caught in embarassing misconduct. The resignation may be enough to keep King’s personal life out of the papers, but I don’t look for him to run for governor in 2010.
I’m almost sorry to see him go — Troy was like a caricature of the Republican party. Never met a death sentence he didn’t like, against sexual gratification, publicity hound, etc. … life as an Alabama blogger will be harder without Troy King.

Another Gay baiting politician who is a closet homo, what a surprise (not)
July 10, 2008 at 7:14 pm
I love “Tara Hutchinson” saying, no, gee, we haven’t heard about this … OR that.” What kind of BS is that? Another gay Republican hypocrite exposed. I bet if they all came out there wouldn’t be much of a Republican party left…

Once these closet cases have their prostate gland pleasured, they get addicted to being power bottoms.
July 11, 2008 at 7:34 am
What about the legality of it all. In the state of Alabama, it is illegal to sell or possess sex toys. You can’t order them on line, can’t drive across the state line, nuthin.. Are charges going to be filed in regards to this?
July 11, 2008 at 7:50 am
Why doesn’t someone stake out his house and see if he comes and goes from there? That would be the way to confirm this “rumor.”
Not suggesting anyone here do that…
July 11, 2008 at 9:49 am
all I had to do was look at his picture and tell he was gay
July 11, 2008 at 9:50 am
what is the deal with all these anti-gay republicans people that are gay? They are against themselves!! They hate themselves!! It’s so bizarro ? What is the problem being gay??
I’d hate to be a republican and wake up every morning and think.. god it sucks to be me!! better put on that fake persona and pretend I’m someone I’m not.. what a miserable way to live man.. i wonder if bushie is gay too??
July 11, 2008 at 10:26 am
Don’t know him that well, but see him being picked up every morning and dropped off every evening – so obviously he hasn’t been kicked out of the house. Bad info – doubt any of this is true. Seems some woman in B’ham hates him and started all of this. Just know he IS at home.

Looks like Riley was trying to divert attention from his own problems.

DID ALABAMA’S GOVERNOR RILEY USE STATE APPOINTMENT TO INFLUENCE CIVIL COURT PROCEEDINGS
Did Governor Bob Riley abuse his gubernatorial power by influencing proceedings in the on going five year civil proceedings in Houston County?
Ted Bauman, a real estate developer and businessman, died July 12, 2001. The official cause of death was Alzheimer’s, therefore Bauman’s true mental capacity and post Alzheimer’s changes to his will and a trust document have raised suspicions as to their validity. Richard Roper, a renowned forensic handwriting expert found in his professional opinion that Bauman’s will and trust appear to be signed by two different parties and do not resemble Bauman’s known pre or post stroke signatures. Rubenstein’s requests for an accounting have been denied which raises suspicion as to the true whereabouts of his approximate nine million dollars fortune. Post Alzheimer, Bauman gave Regions full control as trustee of his fortune. (Houston County Civil Case No. CV02-5063)
In addition, the whereabouts of Bauman’s blind, legally incompetent widow and the approximate two million dollars absent from her Regions Trust are also under question. (Houston County Civil Case No.CV01-5013).
Frustrated with repeated denials for an accounting of her parents’ assets, Kathryn B. Rubenstein, one of Bauman’s daughter’s, sought the assistance of Governor Bob Riley. Rubenstein met with Riley aide, Taylor Bryan and Judy P. Wood, assistant to the Deputy Chief of Staff at the Capital June 15, 2006 where she outlined evidence of questionable court proceedings involving Judge Larry K. Anderson and Specially Appointed Judge, Dale Segrest. Rubenstein had sought and received the recusal of both judges after exposing their apparent ties to Regions. She was assured by Governor Riley’s office that “We’ll do whatever we can to try and assist”.
A third judge, Bernard (Burt) Smithart, was appointed in 2006 by then Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice, Drayton Nabers to preside over the Bauman’s legal proceedings. Judge Smithart denied Rubenstein’s most recent recusal Motion September 6, 2007 the day he presided over a summary judgment trial which included Regions and the Alabama Department of Human Resources as defendants.
Rubenstein filed a Petition for Emergency Writ of Mandamus with the Alabama Supreme Court (Case No. 1071346) Monday July 7, 2008. In it she requested Judge Smithart’s recusal. The mandamus brief stated in part that Elizabeth C. Smithart, according to DHR’s website, http://www.dhr.state.al.us/page.asp?pageid=702, is a State Board Member of the Department of Human Resources. Mrs. Smithart is the wife of Judge Burt Smithart and was appointed February 2, 2007 to DHR’s state board by the then newly re-elected Governor Riley.
The Supreme Court brief also addresses a June 2008 article published in the Montgomery Advertiser, http://www.montgomeryadvertiser.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080623/OPINION01/806230305/1006/opinion&template=printart, which showed Governor Riley received fifty thousand dollars for his 2007 inauguration from Regions Financial.
Rubenstein never realized Governor Riley’s assistance would involve the appointment of a State Board Member that appears so closely related to her court cases, which leaves significant doubt as to the ability for impartial court proceedings in Alabama.

Give the poor guy a break. He was only doing deep undercovers research on an important AL subject.

This guy is totally gay. Look at his face. It’s so obvious. I can tell just from his picture. I’m in California and he sets off my gaydar from way over there in Alabama.

It is a crying shame that people have nothing better to do than destroy a persons character and his family’s life. Attorney General Troy King has been a blessing to me and hundreds of crime victims across the state of Alabama. He has stood by us at the Parole Board to protest murderers, child molesters, and rapists from being paroled. He has tried to get stong laws passed to protect our children and elderly. He has been a friend to law enforcement. He has a beautiful wife and 3 precious children that the devil is using you to destroy their lives. I pray that God will convict you of what you are doing and have done.

Thanks for your comment, and your concern for my afterlife.
I trust you would have admonished me if the story had been about Sen. Larry Craig, or Sen. David Vitter, or Gov. James McGreevey, or Rev. Ted Haggard, or Rep. David Drier, or Rep. Mark Foley, or Rep. James McCreary, or…
Oh nevermind. When you’re referred to this site from a gay news blog, I know I’ve got another closet case on my hands.
Best,
Benji
