PageOneQ: America’s largest LGBT advocacy organization has put its support behind Senator Barack Obama (D-IL) in his run for the presidency as he pledges his support for LGBT citizens.

“The Human Rights Campaign has been at the forefront of the fight for GLBT equality and opportunity, and I am proud to have its endorsement,” Senator Obama said. “Too often, the issue of GLBT rights is exploited by those seeking to divide us. But at its core, this issue is about who we are as Americans. I look forward to working with HRC to end discrimination against GLBT Americans and to ensure that all of our citizens are treated with dignity and respect.”

Bishop Gene Robinson

Telegraph: Bishop Gene Robinson, the first openly homosexual Anglican bishop, is about to “marry” his partner, further inflaming tensions in the church ahead of a series of critical meetings this summer.

The bishop, whose appointment has driven the worldwide church to the brink of collapse, is to have a civil union with his partner of 20 years, Mark Andrew.

They will have a private ceremony carried out by a lawyer in front of family and friends on Saturday, followed by a service of celebration in a church nearby in New Hampshire, northeast USA.

Bishop Robinson, who recently claimed he had always wanted to be a “June bride”, said: “We’re very excited about it. It won’t look like a wedding, but it will be wonderful.”
