Politico: The Democratic governor of Ohio would be on anybody’s list, but he sure did seem to rule it out today:

“Absolutely not. If drafted I will not run, nominated I will not accept and if elected I will not serve. So, I don’t know how more crystal clear I can be,” he said in response to a question on NPR.

Birmingham News: The Blue Dogs, a 49-member coalition of conservative Democrats in Congress, today announced its endorsement of Parker Griffith in Alabama’s 5th Congressional District of north Alabama. “We believe he will join us in putting an end to the partisan bickering in Washington and pushing through commonsense fiscal policies and restoring accountability to our government,” said U.S. Rep. Mike Ross, D-Ark.

Griffith is a state senator running to replace Rep. Bud Cramer, D-Huntsville, who is retiring. His Republican opponent will be determined by a primary runoff next month.

But on Tuesday night, millions of people witnessed Michelle Obama daintily knocking knuckles with her husband as the Illinois Senator took the stage to claim the 2008 Democratic presidential nomination. The Washington Post called it “the fist bump heard ’round the world.”

AP: Barack Obama pivoted quickly to the general election campaign for the White House on Wednesday, naming a three-person team including Caroline Kennedy to lead his search for a running mate while expressing confidence that the Democratic Party would soon unify after a bruising battle for the presidential nomination.”I’m very confident of how we’re going to be able to bring the party together,” Obama said after a brief conversation with Hillary Rodham Clinton, his vanquished rival.

Campaign officials said Kennedy, who is the daughter of the late President John F. Kennedy, as well as former Deputy Attorney General Eric Holder and longtime Washington insider Jim Johnson have already begun compiling information on potential running mates. They disclosed no names.

If you’re an Alabama reader or blogger (or not, we’d still like to communicate from you), please give us a shout. We wanna listen to your thoughts. We’d love to hear about how we can change Alabama. We’d be bedazzled to hear how we can change America in 2008 . And we’d soak up comments about how we can make The Plainsman Politico better. By all means, send us your comments.
